Parables Study: Great time to check out small group study this fall. Join a few folks from the Justice Bible Study and Pastor Lauren as we turn our focus on the parables, using the book Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi by Amy-Jill Levine. We will study & discuss, one Wednesday eve/month x 3 months. Mark these 3 gatherings: October 14, November 11, & December 9.
We will take a fresh look at the tricky tales Jesus told, that we thought we knew by heart. We will craft a covenant to be generous readers of the text, as well as in our group with one another. We may recover the sense of provocation and challenge that these parables would have brought to those in Jesus’ first century audience! We begin Wednesday, Oct. 14 online @ 6:30 pm, and we'll study the Introduction, plus chapters 1, 2 and 3.
